Envirowater are winners of a global search as part of a business’s project to improve sustainability. We have been successful in the project by Cummins known as the Environmental Gateway.

We submitted our ingenious idea after Cummins, the largest independent maker of diesel engines and related products in the world, called on innovators of all sizes to come forward with sustainable innovations to help Cummins achieve their Environmental targets in the UK.

The Cummins Environmental Gateway, launched in partnership with Marcela Navarro, CEO of Business Cubed (formerly responsible for the successful launch and deployment of the RBS Innovation Gateway), is looking for green and innovative suppliers to positively impact Cummins 2020 Environmental targets whilst promoting supplier inclusion.

The project team, led by Denis Ford, Corporate Indirect Purchasing Leader EMEA, NE/SE Asia & South Pacific at Cummins, is delighted with the quality of the finalists. Denis comments: “We have been very impressed with the quality of the innovations received and even more with the potential for environmental impact and savings. Envirowater should be very proud to be a winner in the Cummins Environmental Gateway”.

Envirowater is the business behind the Free Flow Valve. We offer water free solutions for businesses wishing to drastically reduce water consumption and save money by converting standard urinals to water free. It’s completely chemical free, easy-to-clean, simple to fit with no on-going maintenance. There’s no smell, bacteria or blockages.

Tony Pegg, MD explains: “Our Free Flow Valve is like no other in the market. We can convert bathrooms to become water free quickly and easily. Even if you are already saving water, our solution allows you to switch to 100% water free. It is chemical free and reduces bad odours and blockages. It is a worthy innovation not just due to environmental factors and cost savings. It also revolutionises the men’s bathroom experience.”

Tony continued: “We are delighted to be finalists in the Cummins Environmental Gateway. It is great to be recognised by a prestigious engineering firm like Cummins for our innovative product. It is making such a difference to the environment and helping to save water one urinal at a time.”

Envirowater was one of more than 100 companies from across the globe that submitted an innovation to the Cummins Environmental Gateway when Cummins UK launched the programme back in August 2016.

Envirowater’s idea will be presented on March 2, to a high calibre panel from Cummins who will decide which innovations will have the opportunity to be implemented, and if successful, scaled up, on Cummins sites in the UK.

Tony Pegg, MD at Envirowater notes:

“Projects like the Cummins Environmental Gateway provide a great opportunity for innovations to gain recognition and credibility on a national and international scale, accelerating our opportunities to access markets and scale.

“This project with Cummins would help Envirowater to further test, analyse and measure the environmental impact that the Free Flow Valve will have on water saving across the UK and beyond.”

Finalists like Envirowater, if successful, will have the opportunity to test their innovations in Cummins sites in the UK.

About the environmental gateway

This programme has been developed with the assistance of Marcela Navarro from Business Cubed. Marcela successfully implemented the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Innovation Gateway, which in its first year saved 40,000 tonnes of CO2 and 200 million litres of water, which equated to £7.5 million when rolled out across the banks UK estate. “What was designed and deployed at RBS worked brilliantly for the business,” Marcela says. “We recognised the need to create both business and community value. Their process was so successful that the model, was then taken up to multi-sector level. I am delighted to work with Cummins to de-risk the adoption of sustainable innovations in their supply chain”.

The judges on the panel include:

- Antonio Leitao (Vice President – Europe ABO)

- Richard Keane (Global Operations FE Director)

- Mark Dhennin (Director Energy & Environment)

- Denis Ford (International Sourcing Leader, EMEA, NE/SE Asia & South Pacific)

- Professor Steve Evans – Director of Research and Industrial Sustainability:

Cambridge University

- Geoff Burnand – CEO: Investing For Good

Cummins is launched in August 2016 a new programme that connects with the supply chain to help improve the company’s environmental impact and reduce its carbon footprint. Called the Environmental Gateway, it aims to discover innovative submissions from suppliers to Cummins’ UK facilities, whose goods and services can assist the company in achieving and surpassing environmental targets.

The project’s stated aims are to increase diverse supplier inclusion, increase innovation within the environmental supply chain and reduce costs.

The project team represented by all UK locations came together and identified eight key areas where the team felt that innovation would assist them in meeting the aims of the project. On top of these eight areas, the team is also seeking innovations from a ninth area. This covers any other goods and services that will assist Cummins with their environmental targets.

About Cummins

Innovators descended on Bristol from across the country earlier this week to celebrate their success in the RBS Bristol Go Green Challenge.

The aim of the celebration dinner, held at Temple Quay, Bristol, was to congratulate the innovators and provided the perfect opportunity to meet the RBS Team and fellow successful entrepreneurs.

It was also a great chance to view the innovations first-hand and understand more about how they can make a big impact in Bristol.

Many thanks to all who attended and we look forward to meeting you again soon.

Nick Hill of Business Daily reports on a Yorkshire company to showcase green tech for RBS, Envirowater Ltd.

Two Yorkshire-based firms will now have the chance to trial their eco-innovations in the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) buildings.

Free Flow Valve from Envirowater, based in Halifax, is a retro-fit, water free urinal system which saves water, prevents bad odour and reduces costs.

Supergreen, based in Morley, will be testing its infra store electrical thermal storage system, which ensures heating and hot water requirements are met with optimal energy interest.

These products are among 12 eco-innovations which will now be tested in the bank’s Trinity Quay building in Bristol and NatWest’s Fishponds branch in the city, which is set to become its very first carbon neutral branch.

The bank launched the RBS Bristol Innovation Gateway in June as part of its engagement with Bristol European Green Capital 2015 and specifically Bristol 2015′s Go Green scheme.

The challenge has three aims: to help RBS and NatWest save more energy, water and waste; to nurture new ideas and help innovators and SME’s to accelerate their ideas to market.

Matt Hatcher, NatWest’s director of commercial banking for Bristol, said “Taking part in the Bristol Go Green initiative was the perfect opportunity to introduce the RBS Innovation Gateway to the city and to launch a search for new, exciting and innovative ways to improve resource efficiency across our properties in Bristol.

“We had 93 applications and it was a tough task to select the final 12 to be trialed. If those innovations prove to be successful in our Bristol properties we hope to introduce them across the entire RBS estate to help us achieve our targets around sustainability.”

“This test-bed also gives us an excellent opportunity to learn which innovations may be of use to our customers. It’s a win-win for the companies who now have the chance to trial their products in our buildings and for our customers who will benefit from what we learn.”

The Bristol Innovation Gateway is just one of the several RBS Innovation Gateway Challenges that provide innovators and SME’s with the chance to trial innovative resouce efficiency solutions on the RBS estate. By offering access to the RBS property portfolio as a test bed, RBS can trial new technologies, obtain real data, and achieve long term, significant changes to the resource efficiency of its buildings.

The post Business Daily on the RBS Bristol Go Green Challenge appeared first on Enviro Water.

They are PERFECT! No more smell!

I never got used to that blue seal chemical odour that comes with the Waterless brand urinals. Always the chemical or chemical and urine smell. Now there’s just NO smell.

They are wonderful and we couldn’t be happier!

We’ll be in touch for more product soon.”

Thank you.

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment and energy savings identification scheme for large organisations in the UK. The scheme was established by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in 2014 in order to address requirements of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive.

For the first stage of the scheme, participants must notify the Environment Agency that they have complied with ESOS by the 5th December 2015. This means that if you are required to participate in the scheme, your organisation should be thinking about and preparing for this legislation now.

Is your organisation affected by this legislation?
You will be in the scope of ESOS if your organisation qualifies as a large undertaking, which means:
- You have more than 250 employees in the UK; or
- You have fewer than 250 employees, but have
i) an annual turnover exceeding €50m (£38,937,777); and
ii) a balance sheet exceeding €43m (£33,486,489); or
- You are part of a corporate group containing a large enterprise

How can you ensure your organisation complies with ESOS?
To ensure compliance under the scheme you will need to:
1) Firstly, determine if you qualify for participation in ESOS
2) Appoint a lead assessor to ensure ESOS compliance
3) Measure your total energy consumption (kWh or expenditure)
4) Carry out ESOS energy audits within each compliance phase, identifying energy saving opportunities
5) Report on your compliance with ESOS to the Environment Agency

Only 2.8 percent of urinals sold in United States in 2012 were water free. That number is bound to grow. Replacing urinals that flush with waterless urinals will save millions of gallons of water. This is a case of low-hanging fruit.

Waterless urinals are good for the environment, and our wallets.

M&T Bank Stadium, home of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, reduced its water usage by 43 percent after installing 400 waterless urinals. The Staples Center in Los Angeles — which hosts the NBA’s Lakers and Clippers — is saving 7 million gallons a year. Bank of America Tower in New York saves 3.4 million gallons a year thanks to water-free urinals. The average water-free urinal in an office building might save about 25,000 gallons a year. There’s no cost from hooking them up to a water system. And water-free urinals have no moving parts that can break.

Depending on the model and specific sale, water-free urinal fixtures are often cheaper than traditional flush urinals.

Water will be the new oil, and will be used as a weapon.

The United Nations projects the current world population of 7.2 billion to reach 9.6 billion by 2050, which will further strain water supplies. Shortage of fresh water is a hazard to U.S. national security. As 2050 nears, the likelihood increases that water will be “potentially used as a weapon, where one state denies access to another,” said a senior U.S. intelligence official. According to a Nature study, 1.7 billion people already rely on aquifers that are rapidly being depleted.

Waterless urinals offer an economical way to help the problem.

The post Washington Post – Waterless Urinals take over the World appeared first on Enviro Water.
